  • What are the different bikini waxes?
Simple Bikini A simple removal of unwanted hair around the bikini line. Extended Bikini The removal of hair around the bikini line, as well as four fingers in from the top and both sides. Brazilian Everything! Leave as little or as much as you want.
  • Why should I wax? Is it painful? Does my hair have to be a certain length? Do I have to be a certain age?
Waxing: By removing hair straight from the root, waxing lasts significantly longer than any other epilation method. Using this method, skin will have a smoother feel. Each time the hair is waxed, it grows back finer and the follicle weakens - leaving less growth every time. Pain: With Bare Wax Lounge’s specialized technique and high quality products, the discomfort is kept to a minimum. Length: We recommend that your hair should be at least 1/4 inch, which is typically 2-3 weeks after shaving and 4-6 weeks after waxing. (Growth time varies by individual). Age: You can be waxed if you are 10 years or older. However, if you are under the age of 18, there must be a parent or legal guardian present to sign our consent form.
  • What type of wax does Bare Wax Lounge use? (both contain titanium dioxide)
Bare Wax Lounge uses the highest quality wax available. For sensitive areas, such as the face, underarms and bikini, we use a hard wax (also known as hot wax). This wax works best on coarse hair, gripping the base of the follicle and effectively removing the hair. This wax causes less irritation and is excellent for sensitive skin. For larger areas, such as the legs, arms, and back, we use a high quality soft wax. The soft wax is thinly applied and removed using a pellon strip. Soft wax is great for removing fine hair.
  • What should I do before my waxing appointment? Anything I should avoid after?
Before: Gently exfoliate the desired area. This process can help remove dead skin cells on and around the hair follicle, which will assist with smoother results. Wearing comfortable clothing is recommended. Some clients like to take an anti-inflammatory or pain reliever 30 mins prior to their appointment to minimize discomfort. A numbing cream is provided and can be applied up to 30-45 minutes before the appointment would ensure the experience to be as painless as possible. Please avoid sun exposure 24 hours before (and after) the waxing service. Limit caffeine intake the day of the appointment, as it can stimulate the nervous system and make waxing less comfortable. After: Avoid sun exposure for the first 48 hours after your service. If you come into contact with the sun, be sure to apply sunblock. Avoid excess heat for 24 hours after a wax. This includes working out, as the sweat carries bacteria into the pore and can irritate the skin. Additionally, avoid the sauna, steam room and hot tub for at least one day following a wax.
  • Is there anything I should inform my Esthetician of before my service?
Yes. Inform your Esthetician of any medications you are taking. This includes Retin-A, Renova, Accutane, Differin, antibiotics and any other medications that may cause sun-sensitivity.
  • I got my period, can I still be waxed?"
Yes. If you are comfortable with it, so are we. For sanitary reasons please use a tampon and be aware that you may be a little more sensitive during this time.
  • How long will the redness last? Am I likely to get ingrown hairs?
Redness: The skin can be slightly pink after waxing. This could last anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the sensitivity of your skin. Ingrown Hair: Some people are more prone to ingrown hair than others and may get them regardless of what type of epilation method they choose. However, waxing causes less ingrown hairs than other methods of hair removal. Exfoliating daily and using an ingrown eliminator that contains AHA's (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) and BHA’s (Beta Hydroxy Acid) can significantly help prevent them
  • How important is it that I am on time for my appointment?
Very important. We value every client’s time, so we do our best to stay on schedule. If a client is more than 5 minutes late we will give a courtesy phone call. If the client is more than 10 minutes late, there is a high probability that the service will need to be shortened (if we're providing multiple services) or will have to be rescheduled.
  • What is Bare Wax Lounge's cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule an existing appointment, we kindly ask to be given 6 hours notice. For any late cancellation, late reschedule or a no-show, the card on file will be charged a fee equal to 50% of the service or services scheduled.
